The endless universe — It stretches without edge or center—a never-ending void of darkness and light. Stars are born, shine, and collapse like slow heartbeats, and from their ashes rise uncountable planets. Worlds that each carry their own way of existence.

There are planets where the skies are made of crystal clouds, chiming softly as winds pass through them. Worlds of endless forests whose roots remember every footstep that has ever touched their soil. Oceans so deep that they hide entire civilizations beneath the waves, and some planets that just drift alone, cold and watchful. The universe holds countless unique forms of life.

Long ago, this universe was created by the Veiled Ones. Cosmic beings of great power. Each gifted with the power to shape worlds and to bring about life.

Life appeared wherever the Veiled Ones allowed it—and sometimes where it shouldn’t. Beings of flesh and bone share the cosmos with creatures of metal and living stone. Vast empires rise across star systems, carving borders into the void. Each with their own cultures and goals. Life knew no bounds wherever the Veiled Ones laid their hands.

Each Veiled One represented one of the twelve elements, and with their arrival, they breathed life into every corner of a planet. Their powers tied to the core forces that governed all of existence: Fire, Water, Lightning, Darkness, Stone, Ice, Metal, Earth, Light, Air, Spirit, and Nature.

Powerful cosmic beings, each with their own myths and legends:

• EMBAR, the god of Fire, creating warmth.

• NAEYA, the god of Water, brought forth oceans.

• VOUTHR, the god of Lightning, crafted storms and energy.

• UMBRA, the god of Darkness, created the veil of night.

• MANROK, the god of Stone, carved the towering mountains and solid rock.

• GLACEN, the god of Ice, brought sweeping cold.

• FERRUM, the god of Metal, placed subterranean veins of ore.

• GRAVAK, the god of Earth, created the very ground to stand on.

• LUXIS, the god of Light, illuminated worlds with daylight.

• NEPHRA, the god of Air, flowed powerful winds.

• FAYLORNE, the god of Nature, wove the forests and plants.

• ZARUUN, the god of Spirit, brought life to inhabit the worlds.

After eons of shaping the universe, the Veiled Ones, as mysteriously as they had arrived, vanished. Leaving no trace behind of where they have gone nor what happened. Life in the universe was left to run on its own course. Without their guidance, life from many planets became prone to chaos and conflict. Different factions rising to fight each other for land or resources. Many technologically developed, while others still lived in their ancient ways. Traveling through ancient gateways left behind by the Veiled Ones to wage war on different worlds within this dangerous universe.

Amongst the chaos, a legend quickly arose. It is said that, before the Veiled Ones vanished, they left behind artifacts of power: 12 gems—imbued with the essence from each Veiled One, an Echo. It is said that these Gems are capable of harnessing and amplifying the very elements that shaped the universe itself, now scattered all over the universe, lost.

These Echoes, scattered across the universe, have become the tale of legend to many factions—just a fairy tale to some, something to worship for others. It is said that to possess one of these gems is to hold the power of the Veiled Ones themselves. While this legend has slowly faded into obscurity over time, turning into myth, whispers have been spreading that the Veiled Ones might return one day. But if those whispers are true is yet to be seen. Now, life in the universe fights for resources, home, and their right to live.
